Explaining Producer/Consumer Constraints

چکیده
Resource-constrained project scheduling problems are one of the most studied scheduling problem, and constraint programming with nogood learning provides the state-of-the-art solving technology for them, at least when the aim is minimizing makespan. In this paper we examine the closely related problem of scheduling producers and consumers of discrete resources and reservoirs. Producer/consumer constraints model consumable resources, such as raw materials (e.g., water) and money, in which event times relate to a production or consumption event. In this paper, we investigate what is the most appropriate language of learning: should we learn about the event times for production and consumption, or should be instead learn about the temporal relationships between events? For this reason, we explore global constraint propagators with explanation for producer/consumer constraints and contrast this with simple decomposition approaches. Experiments on resource-constrained project scheduling problems involving producer/consumer constraints show that nogood learning solvers are highly effective at these problems.

Modelling Producer/Consumer Constraints
In this paper we describe the modelling of producer/consumer constraints with the CHIP system. Producer/consumer constraints arise in scheduling problems with consumable resources like raw materials or money, in particular for batch based processing. The constraint assures that at each time point enough consumable resources are available. The modelling with CHIP uses the cumulative constraint t...
متن کاملDesigning an Economic Repetitive Sampling Plan in the Presence of Two Markets
In this paper, we develop an optimization model for the economic design of repetitive sampling plan in the presence of two markets. The process under consideration produces a product with a normally distributed quality characteristic with unknown mean and known variance. The quality characteristic has a lower specification limit. The quality of the product is controlled via lot-by-lot acceptanc...

The present study was focused on supply chain analysis of fresh guava in order to evaluate existing marketing supply chains (SC1: Producer - Consumer, SC2: Producer - Retailer - Consumer, SC3: Producer - Commission agent - Retailer - Consumer, SC4: Producer - Commission agent - Wholesaler - Retailer - Consumer) for two variety (allahabad safeda and apple guava) of guava. The gross marketing pri...
متن کاملDerivation Methods of Parameters for Scheduling Tasks and Messages in a Distributed Real-time Systems
This paper suggests derivation methods of network scheduling parameters in distributed real-time systems. The approach, based on decomposing the constraints solving problem into a sequence of sub-problems, is proposed. The periods, the phases and the deadlines of tasks and messages on the network are determined from the timing requirements such as endto-end constraints and data consistencies of ...
متن کاملEnrichment in a general class of stoichiometric producer-consumer population growth models.
This paper presents the derivation and partial analysis of a general producer-consumer model. The model is stoichiometric in that it includes the growth constraints imposed by species-specific biomass carbon to nutrient ratios. The model unifies the approaches of other studies in recent years, and is calibrated from an extensive review of the algae-Daphnia literature. Numerical simulations and ...
